- Outpatient Rehab & Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP): Outpatient programs do not require overnight stays and patients may receive treatment for substance abuse treatment while living at home. Outpatient treatment is typically more flexible in that patients may still stay at home, work, and take care of their children while attending treatment or counseling at a hospital, treatment center, or mental health clinic. Outpatient programs have patients meet on a scheduled, regular basis, and some programs may even offer nights and/or weekend availability. These programs are typically, less intense than inpatient rehab as patients are not monitored 24/7.
